RedR was founded in England in 1980, as a humanitarian organisation supplying qualified engineering personnel and other built environment professionals for disaster relief.

RedR is now an international organisation, co-ordinated by RedR International with headquarters in Switzerland. RedR has autonomous branches in England, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and India and is active in East Africa and Malaysia.

Since 1980 RedR has been involved in every major, natural and man made disaster, and has operated in most countries of the world.

RedR Southern Africa, actively supported by RedR International and the other branches, is setting up from a base in South Africa. This is in response to a demand from experienced engineers within Southern Africa, who believe that their experience should be used to help the region. ‘African Engineering Expertise for Humanitarian Relief & Development’.
